Introducing DFN

The question of the day: why should you dress up when no one is looking? My answer and the answer that hopefully pops up in your brain upon first glance: because it makes you feel good. As we near the beginning of normalcy within a pandemic conscience world, the new life is heavily derived from staying at home, chilling with the homies through FaceTime, and Friday nights spent with the cat and a bottle of wine. So, what does that mean for art of “dressing up” which has been so carefully curated by all that time asking your friends if it looks good or not? Why not just stay in pajama pants forever, right? It all goes back to making you feel good. Clothes have this weird additive property to a person’s confidence. When you look good, you feel good; and when you feel good, you feel unstoppable. For example, I’m a huge proponent for ditching the yoga pants for other than grocery runs, gym, and Nextfilx binge watching. I always go into class, whether it be online or in person, dressed for the day in my typical uniform: relax fit jeans and a French-tucked tee. Without fail, every semester the comment upon my outfit is presented, and it is always a positive one. Now, I didn’t put much more effort into throwing on a pair of jeans rather than a pair of yoga pants. But, there is still that feeling of, yeah, I put in a little more effort.(Also, it puts you in the mindset of focused and ready for the day because you associate wearing x,y,z to working and then you have your yoga pants for relaxing. It’s a physical trick into making your brain be less or more productive.)I’m not hear to preach at you for wearing yoga pants or what ever is comfortable. I’m just saying, try putting on something that shows who you are. Show your personality with that funky looking jacket or those new shoes you just bought. Stop assuming no one is looking. It’s hard to not notice confidence and self assurance. It’s also hard not to notice a bomb af fit. Embrace yourself and dress for you because you deserve it you lovely human.
